Today, we went to have lunch in a Thai restaurant in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. A great restaurant just behind rue du Château, at 160 avenue du Maine to be exact.
The owners are extremely warm and generous.Apart from the fact that we ate delicious dishes, as soon as I arrived, I had already spotted on the menu, a dessert called "Thai tea cream".
That's the reason why, when the long-awaited dessert moment arrives, I enthusiastically order this dessert.Unfortunately, "NOK" had not done so today. So, the magic of spontaneity operates anyway, when Nok, who knows that I work in "tea", asks me if I have already drunk or if I sell Thai tea, I tell him yes.She then asks me, if I have ever drunk Thai iced tea, there, I tell her no, because I almost always drink hot tea and never sweetened.
It was then that she went to the kitchen, telling me that I absolutely had to taste the Thai iced tea.Nok is busy, my curiosity is aroused, I am honored by this attention and even though I never drink sweet tea, I still can't wait to make an exception. And why was I right !!
In no time, I see Nok coming back with two glasses of "joy" in his hands. One of a bright orange color with crushed ice cubes and lime and the other a milky orange color, still with crushed ice cubes and lime.Nok puts the two glasses in front of me and invites me to taste.
I do not have to pray ... and, it is divine!Delicious, with the taste and smell of this Thai tea, which I know well, powerful, a little earthy, thick, with a dark orange color (in hot infusion) and which leaves orange halos on the sides of the cup, this tea is so fat and thick. In "frozen" version!the sugar and the lime do not mask the taste of the tea, but the subblime. The ice cubes are added in a granita style, this is the first time that I have drunk such a seductive iced tea
In the other glass, there is a version of the same iced tea but in a latte variant, it is just as surprising, so much so that I do not know which I prefer.Nok had the good idea to also make me a tea-brewing teapot, hot version, and the tasting became quite interesting. It seemed to me to be in a tea workshop, where there was only one tea to taste but in several different ways and all equally pleasant and delicious from each other.
If you go through the 14th arrondissement of Paris, go visit them, eat what you want, but above all, tea lovers, ask for the house's iced teas, they are sublime !!
